Introducing Sonati: Digital Hope’s Newest Launch Partner

SONATI – sustainable environmental education in Nicaragua – Some may say this is a match made in heaven. As Digital Hope works to bring exposure to international organizations by focusing on four main pillars (children initiatives, environmental efforts, wildlife conservation, and community building), SONATI combines these goals into one unified program specific to the needs of Nicaragua. By working with children to increase their knowledge, love, and care towards the environment, SONATI strives to empower the youth of Nicaragua with the tools they need to make meaningful environmental changes in their communities. And it’s working. Nicaragua’s lush and beautiful natural habitat has been threatened by the communities’ lack of understanding and compliance with environmental laws and regulations. By working to provide free environmental education programs for school children in particular, SONATI is working to educate and inspire the youth in hopes of protecting the future of Nicaragua’s eco-system.By conducting hands-on presentations in the classroom, and leading fun environmental activities outdoors, students are able to interact directly with nature and learn what steps they can take to protect it. Encouraging a love of wildlife, in partnership with an understanding of conservation, SONATI empowers children to make positive decisions as future community leaders. With a belief in this mission, SONATI has chosen to focus on the following initiatives: Free environmental education: Fun youth-oriented activities Recycling projects: Takes students out of the classroom for hands-on recycling projects such as the creation of a park made of completely recycled materials Nature conservation: Work to establish nature reserves and promote eco-tourism Sonati newsletter: Spreads information about Sonati’s mission and projects In just over two years, SONATI has seen tremendous success and change in the Nicaraguan communities’ attitude towards environmental conservation.
